What is the difference between mild, moderate, and severe Crohn’s?

I hear people talking about the severity of their crohn’s disease – but how do you know which one you have?

There are several ways that your doctor will check to see how severe your disease is. A scope or pill cam test can help in giving a visual aid on the level of severity of your disease. A stool sample test called a, Fecal Calprotein Test or Fecal Cal, will help to determine the level of inflammation in your intestines. Also, the existence of Extraintestinal Manifestations can help as another indicator. But overall, it will be a series of tests provided by your Healthcare Provider, not just based on how you feel. Or whether or not you have blood in your stool.
